I’ve been a huge fan of The Limited for decades now…I have things from TL that I can wear today and you wouldn’t know they were from the 90s. That’s because their stuff is mostly classic styles mixed in with a few trendy items. Their aesthetic is a cross between Banana Republic and Ann Taylor, stores I also love, but the pricing is a bit easier on the wallet especially when they have sales. I love love their dresses, blazers and pants….but especially their dresses. They always fit me perfectly! The quality of material is not always as luxe as BR, AT or J.Crew but for the price, I think the value is fair.
Yesterday’s launch of their Scandal collection is another testimony to their classic flair. I’m loving the subtle hues, clean lines and structured designs of Olive Pope’s wardrobe. I picked a few select items I’m coveting from the line which I’ve only seen online and on ABC’s Good Morning America segment earlier this week. The line has a luxurious look and feel, just like Olivia Pope’s fashion choices…very powerful DC mayhem solving clothes. I’m especially excited to see the two dresses in person; they look feminine and formidable at the same time…just like Kerry Washington’s character.
I’ll be posting pictures (hoping to try these picks on this week) as soon as I can get to the mall….so run, don’t walk to your nearest TL store. I’m sure this collection will go fast.
Here are a couple of examples of TL items that I’ve had for years and would still wear today. The versatile skirt in putty/nude is made of really nice sturdy Ponte knit material with comfy stretch to it. The hooded top in see-through poly-blend is both sporty and modern…love this under a blazer with the hood peeking through. Both were from the 90s…and although I feel good about the value I got from these…I feel really old now…lol. PS: Sorry for the wrinkles..these were unearthed from storage boxes in the basement…now I can wear them again!
