Just a quick-ish post to share what I love about Fall/Autumn…whatever you want to call it. It’s my favorite time of the year…it’s a Season that conjures up warm fuzzy feelings as the temps start to drop and thoughts of holiday get-togethers with loved ones loom closer.
This Autumn has an even more special meaning to me; I am about to embark on a new adventure in the professional area of my life. After 11 years at a corporate setting and working remotely, I am starting a new local job next week. I will actually go into an office everyday and interact with co-workers in person…I haven’t done that in a long time, after moving to Colorado from Southern California (corporate office of my former employer) 8 years ago. In addition, I will have about a 1/2 hour commute each way to/from work. And what about work attire? I’ve been pretty much dressing casually to go to the office for the last 8 years; working remotely in a satellite office afforded me that option. My new job has a business casual atmosphere but I should probably cut back on wearing jeans everyday (not making any promises). All these logistics aside, it’s an exciting time for me. I was sad to say goodbye to my former peers and friends and to a job I really enjoyed (for a time) but looking forward to a new phase of my career in the same industry.
And although Spring is more akin to new beginnings, I find that this season of Autumn will breathe new life to the way I work. There may be some challenges here and there as I acclimate to it but I’m excited. I’m excited at the prospect of learning new things, working with new people, and hopefully, bringing value to another organization.
On a lighter note, all these comforts of Autumn as pictured above, will always keep me feeling cozy and grounded no matter what this new chapter holds. What about you? What season do you favor and why? That’s it for now!
