Over the weekend, while doing some last minute shopping for Father’s Day, I was enticed to enter a New York & Company store near my house. I rarely go into this store nowadays, in fact, I sometimes confuse it with The Limited. They sort of have the same aesthetic but The Limited (IMO) has better selection. This particular day though they had “50% off everything” signs plastered all over their windows and no better words were ever put together than “half off everything”, so I caved and went inside. They had their usual fare of polyester tops, jersey knit shirts, capri pants, etc. but what caught my eye was the keyhole sleeveless dress below with the blue/green/teal/paisley mix print. It had such a summery feel to it and the material is cotton knit jersey which is so so comfy, almost t-shirt like. The dress is lined, no zippers, just a pull over type which I love. It was 50% off $55 at about $28. I love the fit…I was afraid the knit material wouldn’t be forgiving but the cinched elastic waist gives it shape and hides my tummy area. I got it in the size small (I’m 5’4″ and 125 lbs for reference). I couldn’t find it on their website; the maxi dress above is similar to the one I tried on except it hits right above the knees. It’s still available in stores and also comes in a pink motif print.
I also tried the fit and flare blue/white dress (also cotton knit jersey) which I’ve seen several incarnations of from other retailers (Old Navy, Piperlime, etc.) and the high/low piped print dress (polyester – sorry, I forgot to take a dressing room pic of this one), both of which fit really well but I didn’t need two more dresses even at the deals they were offering. Click here to visit the website and click here to view all their dresses online.
Their sale is still ongoing (up to 80% off, excluding new arrivals) so if you’re on the hunt for an affordable summer dress, NY&CO might be an option for you. That’s it for now!
