After putting my kids to bed and finishing up all my daily chores, I unwind by watching YouTube videos….mostly beauty tutorials, shopping hauls, mundane vlogs, etc. They’re mindless entertainment and seldom do I really glean anything useful from them. But a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across this video from the “AskMeMakeup” channel on how to do hooded eye make up. Little did I know that I would finally find an answer to my chronically oily lids that can’t survive eye make up for any acceptable length of time. I’ve tried all kinds and brands of primer – nothing ever worked. Most days, I can single-handedly provide the country’s supply of crude oil just from my eyelids…it’s pretty bad. The key step shown in the video (fast forward to 2:40) that I was missing is the application of loose powder on my eyelids (and undereye area) BEFORE applying the eye primer. Genius! Never would’ve thought of doing that…seems counter-intuitive to me…powder, then a liquid primer over it? I guess that’s why I’m not a beauty guru. I’m sure this is no earth shattering revelation to most but to me, it made such a huge difference. I’ve been following the steps above for about 2 weeks now. Our weather has been erratic but we’ve had very warm weather already and my eyelids have survived the heat. Thank you to AskMeMakeUp for your video! Now I can pass this tip onto my daughters (Boo and Lulu) as I’m sure this is one of those traits that (unfortunately) I will pass on to them. But alas! They won’t have to wait 46 years to figure out the solution.
