Happy Sunday! It’s time to Fall back again in the US (excludes Hawaii and parts of AZ) – don’t forget to adjust your watches/clocks to daylight savings time today – we gain an hour of sleep but lose an hour of daylight (I’m ok with that!). Took a couple of days off from blogging…didn’t really accomplish much but spent time with my girls before they go back to school tomorrow after Fall Break. They’re busy playing right now while the hubby is immersed in football so I thought I’d take a moment to write about a pair of ankle pants I recently got at Ann Taylor Loft on clearance. Let me just say that although I’m crazy about animal print, I wouldn’t go as far as to buy a pair of animal print pants. That wouldn’t be in my comfort zone but when I walked passed the Zoe ankle pants peeking in the clearance section of ATL, I stepped back and took another look. As you can see from the pic below, it’s a very subtle mix of cheetah/giraffe print but also appears to have a polka-dot vibe. It was on final sale for $14.88, originally $69.50 (it’s not available online but you can click here to view similar ATL pants). I quickly grabbed it and tried it on – it’s a size 8, two sizes too big on me but I thought for that price, I can have it tailored. I love the color mix of gold/beige and black which is probably why I gravitate towards cheetah print items. The material is stretchy and very comfy – it’s almost sateen like with 97% cotton and 3% spandex.
ATL currently has an additional 40% off sale items but I didn’t find anything else worth mentioning. I haven’t really been impressed with their stuff lately but thought the Zoe pants was worth a try. If nothing else, it’s a good option for the holidays when we’re hosting the festivities at our home – paired with smoking flats and a red sweater or tee, I think it’ll be lovely.
I played around with styling it below, one with a chambray shirt from Old Navy + Gap sweater and another one with a simple black tee from H&M. I think the key to animal print or embellished pants is to balance it with something tamer or neutral at the top and also to ignore funny looks from your husband who is not used to seeing you wear fancy pants (LOL…that just made me laugh out loud…I can just hear him say, hey Ms. Fancy Pants, pass the stuffing please!).
What do you think? Are these pants for you? Would you try it for $15?
