Happy 1st day of November…today we started the countdown to the Holidays in our family. With relatives converging in our home for Thanksgiving (both in and out of towners), the countdown is not just a source of excitement for my girls but a necessary exercise to make sure they don’t creep up on us. My girls were on Fall break this week as I mentioned before so I’m taking tomorrow off (woohoo!!) for their last free weekday before going back to school on Monday. My favorite thing to do on a day off is to go out to breakfast with my family at Mimi’s Cafe…I love their Pain Perdu, a heavenly concoction of french toast layered with cream cheese and orange marmalade…it’s full of calories and all that is bad for you but it’s so darn yummy especially with a hot cup of coffee.
Before I get too hungry thinking about breakfast, let me tell you about the little piece of heaven I stumbled upon at DSW while checking out their boots selection. DSW always has such a large selection that I almost always have to check it out. Also I had a $10 certificate that was burning a hole in my purse. If I haven’t mentioned it before, I’m a bit of a Jack Purcell sneakers fanatic. I have about six pairs of them (yikes)…I just love their shape and fit and they go with everything – case and point, J.Crew styles them with suits which I really love! In fact, I like it so much that when I travel for business trips, I often will wear my white or black JP’s with slacks and a sweater or plain tee and a blazer or cardigan similar to the J.Crew pic below.
And, in case I have not mentioned this as well, I’m also obsessed with animal print: scarves, shoes, belts, bracelets, bags, etc. So when I saw the JP laceless in cheetah print in the sale section of DSW, I was ecstatic. They were 59.94 + 30% off + I had the $10 certificate, so my total came to $38.04 with tax. Score!!!! They’re not on sale online but you can check them out here on DSW’s website. I love these – I wore them today with jeans and a simple red tee (as seen here in my Polyvore set) – the cheetah print sneakers gave the otherwise simple outfit an ooomph.
Only one complaint – with my other JP’s, I didn’t have any break in time. The back on these however seem to rub the back of my feet so I have to be careful – should wear thicker socks perhaps? Not sure yet…I’ll update this post after a couple more wearings (is that a word?). Other than that, they’re fabulous! If you’re looking for animal print shoes but prefer the comfort and casual vibe of sneakers, this might be the pair for you.
What do you think of animal print shoes? Too much?
