I have been on the hunt for the J.Crew Tartan shirt for awhile now. I never see it go on the auction block on eBay nor anywhere else. So needless to say, I was thrilled when I saw a similar version of it crop up the same day J.Crew Factory sent an email blast about their new and improved online store (as seen here). I made a plan to head down to the Outlets as soon as I had the time which finally came this past weekend. I have been lusting after this shirt ever since I first saw it on several Polyvore sets. I grabbed it in small; I didn’t have time to try it on as I had a long drive home. Outlets are notoriously located in some remote town in the middle of nowhere and this one is no different.
Can I tell you? I love love this shirt…as @villasba from Life’s Divine commented in this Polyvore set, this shirt actually fits better than most shirts from the regular retail store. As you can see from the comparison pic above, the Factory version is more fitted while the retail store version is more boxy. I don’t have the Tartan shirt version so I can’t speak to its fit or quality. The factory version material is not very substantial…you might even say it’s a bit flimsy but layered over or under another garment, it’ll do just fine. The fit is what I’m really concerned about and this one fits just fine. As I said, I took a size small which normally wouldn’t work for me as I have wide shoulders so I always have to size up, then have the torso tailored but not necessary with this shirt.
I’ll talk more about the other items I picked up while I was at the factory store on future posts. What do you think of the plaid button down factory version? Do you have the original Tartan version?
