Double Serge Wool Hacking Jacket
If you can’t tell by now, I’m a bit of a J.Crew-aholic. Their products have vastly improved in the last few years since Jenna Lyons and Mickey Drexler took over. So needless to say, I look forward to receiving their catalogs (sorry, Style Guide)…it’s only been a few days since I got my November Style Guide and it’s already dog eared in a few pages. It’s sort of a ritual for me – when the kitchen’s clean, kids are in bed and hubby is watching ESPN on DVR, with a cup of coffee or tea in hand, I sit in my favorite comfy chair and ottoman, and leaf through the pages several times. I know I’m not solving any world problems during my “me” time but it’s these simple pleasures in life that make the stresses of the world seem far away.
November’s style guide is a burst of pastel colors and whimsical images on sweaters. The pages with Jenna’s Picks are so colorful and almost candy store like…I didn’t know what to focus on first. I’m obsessed with the La Parisienne Sweater with the Cruella-esque looking French lady on the front; same with the French bulldog sweater (so cute). I also love the mint double serge wool hacking jacket and double cloth funnel coat. The Cece cap toe ballet flats in saltwater grey is so pretty, almost ethereal. I also like the Aggie ankle boots (in honor of my mother-in-law whose nicknamed Aggie, I just might get these). Lastly, the tricolore Biennial – it’s TDF, I literally sat up when I saw it on page 92.
Lusting after these items and actually buying them are two different things though. Some of the prices are reasonable considering the quality and timelessness. But I can’t justify spending over $200 on a pair of ankle boots that other brands have a dup of but priced more affordably, inspite of its namesake. I’ll have to look out for the upcoming sales…let the stalking begin.
