I’ve been looking for a faux leather jacket for two reasons: (1) I wanted a lightweight inexpensive jacket for Spring and (2) if it gets rained on…eh…no big deal. I saw this Forever 21 studded number at the mall near me but they only had it in small which of course, was too tight on my shoulders. I was bummed that they only had it in small and large. It seemed to run small so I figured the medium would be perfect. At $39.80, it was not a bad deal. I ordered it online after reading a couple of reviews that raved about it. It’s definitely worth the $40 for what it is. It’s lightweight but substantial enough (fully lined) to give warmth during the milder Spring and Fall weather. I love the spike studs on the shoulders…it’s minimal…not so in your face that you feel like jumping in the mosh pit at the next ear drum bursting concert (do they still do that? LOL). I also love that it’s not double breasted like most moto-cross jackets. The hardware is gold but almost rose gold which softens the look of the jacket. The faux leather is not cheap looking especially when paired with higher end accessories. There’s also a bit of quilting on the shoulders (as you can see above) which gives it more dimension and detail.
The fit is nice – I have wide shoulders so I often have to size up even if the fit is right in my torso but this one is just right in the medium. When I took it out of the box, it emitted a “plastic” like odor but it seems to be slowly dissipating. Overall, I love this jacket – I would recommend it if you’re looking for a faux leather alternative.
Check out how I styled it below in my Polyvore set – using a different jacket image. I wore my usual striped tee and long strand of pearls to soften the look. Along with my Tory Burch Ella tote and Lawrence moccasins, the look is more polished even with jeans.
