For my quick dash to the Gap and Target yesterday, I wore a red/white/blue outfit (see shopping details here) with my Rock & Republic Smoking Flats from Kohl’s. They were originally $64.99, now on sale for $25.99. These flats are fabulous – they are on trend with the smoking/slipper flats + they are comfortable. I wore them out yesterday for about 1.5 hours without any socks or my usual heel insoles and my feet were fine. The colors are also perfect for Fall/Winter. I see these as timeless shoes, even when the smoking flats trend is long gone.
I used to go to Kohl’s more back when I worked near one but I think the last time I was there was about a year ago. So I was pleasantly suprised to see some items worth mentioning. I also got a pair of the Candie’s leopard print smoking flats for $4.99 in the clearance section, originally $49.99…can you believe that? The animal print is not available online but the same shoes in black pantent can be seen here. It’s an exact dup of the Target version for $19.99 which I have been wearing quite a bit. I love both because they are made of synthetic material and in the Winter time, I’m not afraid of ruining them when we have less than dry weather. The ones from Target are much better I think; the print is slightly smaller and the fit is better but the Kohl’s version is a nice back-up for $5. Animal print will always be in style so why not?

I also saw a dup for the Sperry Top Sider boat shoes in the Kohl’s brand Croft and Barrow. These are a very nice replica of the original – also made of leather and with a nice selection of colors. The Sperry’s are on sale right now at Nordstrom’s for $53.96, down from $89.95. I like the Croft and Barrow version in red, navy and houndstooth. When I saw these at the store, they weren’t on sale yet. Now they’re down to $23.97 from the original $59.99. The gold and ice colors are even cheaper at $18.97. While I didn’t purchase them at the time, I did try them on…very comfy, lots of cushioning as you can tell from the pics below. For less than $24, I might have to go back to take another look at these. I don’t currently own a pair of the Sperry Top Siders; I had a pair in high school that I wore to death and I’m assuming the quality has stayed the same. If you’re looking for a comparable dup for a more affordable price, I would recommend the Kohl’s version.
What do you think of the smoking or slipper shoes trend? Love it or leave it? That’s it for now…hope you gleaned some worthwhile buys from this post. Enjoy your week!
