OOTD…102612 (Pink Challenge Day 12)

Happy Friday!!! Woohoo…another week over and the weekend is upon us. My OOTD was once again, dictated by today’s weather. We were in the 30’s today but sunny…I love this kind of weather where the air is crisp, the temps are cold but the sky is sunny. Typical Colorado weather…gorgeous! So I opted for my “go to” outfit during the Winter season: skinny jeans tucked into boots, sweater/shirt combo and a warm coat or jacket. You might say it’s one of my Winter uniforms. The other is bootcut jeans with booties, brogues or flats, white long sleeve tee (I have tons of them), blazer or cardigan and a scarf. I love wearing bootcut jeans; they flatter my body type much better I think…so when I find a really good pair, I buy two of them. One for high heeled shoes and another for flats. I’m 5’4″ so buying jeans is a challenge; the petites are too short and the regulars are too long so either way I have to get them tailored. One of the things on my wish list this Christmas is a sewing machine so I can hem my own jeans and slacks and put the $$$ spent on alterations to better use.

On to the outfit: the sweater is an old one from Banana Republic, couldn’t find an image of it for my Polyvore set so I used the J.Crew v-neck instead. The gingham shirt is from the J.Crew Factory store; it’s a perennial style they have. The boots are a favorite of mine that I purchased a few years ago at a Bass Outlet Store; the photo at the very bottom of this post with the Polyvore set is a link to a similar one. It’s not leather and that’s why I love it – don’t get me wrong…I love me a pair of leather boots anyday but for days when it’s slushy and wet, I love wearing these because I don’t care if they get wet and they are very sturdy and warm. And as you can see from the IRL photo below, they have the look of leather (even the worn patina) without the high maintenance. I also love the color – it’s almost burgundy-ish brown – very versatile. And the buckle detail…so nice! To top it off, I got it for $49 on sale.  So if you stumble upon a Bass store, take a peek inside, you never know what you might find.

Well, I only have 5 more days ’til the end of October when my Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) pink challenge is over. I’m actually enjoying this challenge…next year, I’ll try it for the entire month. Enjoy your weekend!!

What do you think of boots made of synthetic material? Love it or leave it?
