Happy Monday! As August winds down and with Fall not officially here for about another month (9/23/14), I thought I’d share the makeup I’ve been loving for the warm summer months. Nothing really revolutionary here..the only thing that I’ve done differently is use the Tarte compact powder as eye shadow. It was a mini sample I received with an online order of other Tarte products. It had been sitting untouched in my makeup drawer for weeks because the shade was teeny tiny too dark for my paleness. But as an eyeshadow, it was the perfect nude natural look I’m always looking for and BONUS! it allows me to skip eye primer because of its staying power…love when I can skip a step and another product.
The other product that I’m really loving about this look is the Mac Fix+. Here’s the thing…I have an oily t-zone but dry patchy areas on my cheeks and nose and no matter how much I exfoliate (I use my Clarisonic every night) or moisturize, they’re there in varying degrees of severity. Combined with the use of a powder foundation, it can look dry and cakey. With the Fix+ sprayed after the Base and Color products are applied, my skin looks dewey, luminous and fresh…genius! I’m sure I’ll continue to use it Fall and Winter when my skin is as arid as the Mojave.
Finally, for those who haven’t read older posts, I suffer from facial dermatitis (basically eczema) which means I have chronic bumps and red patches on my face. There is no cure for it; symptoms can be managed with the use of a low grade cortisone cream which can thin out the skin….not ideal. I’ve learned over the years to control it with very little use of prescription cream…this is why I try to use only skincare products without the bad stuff (SLS, parabens, propylene glycol, phtalates, etc) but bottom line is it may never go away. Although the makeup products listed above don’t all meet my “no bad stuff” criteria, they don’t exacerbate my skin problems.
I hope this post helps someone else out there who may have the same skin type as me. That’s it for now!
